Lebanon: Security Council and UN officials condemn deadly Beirut bombing

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Security Council and the top United Nations envoy in Lebanon have strongly condemned the car bombing in Beirut today that killed former minister Mohammad Chattah and at least five others, underlining the need to protect the country’s stability in the face of such terrorism and the crisis in neighbouring Syria.

UN chief, Security Council, call for calm after shooting on Israeli-Lebanese border

Lebanon needs full support in face of Syrian conflict, says UN-backed group

Lebanon needs strong, coordinated support in response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the crisis in Syria, which has brought an inflow of hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees and has stoked inter-communal conflict, a United Nations-backed international group warned today.
The voucher system aiding Syrian refugees in Lebanon has injected more than US$82 million into the local economy since the beginning of 2013.

Hundreds of Syrian families flee into eastern Lebanon, UN agency confirms
