The Middle East Green Initiative launch in Saudi Arabia on Monday was hailed by the UN’s deputy chief as a valuable commitment and strategic vision, to transition regional economies away from unsustainable development, to a model “fit for the challenges of the 21st century”.
An innovative approach to supporting the poorest and most vulnerable in Rwanda, is helping to address environmental problems and achieve ambitious development goals there, according to the UN.
Decent “green” jobs are the future and they must be placed at the heart of the sustainable development agenda, the chief of the International Labour Organization (ILO) said on Monday.
Guy Ryder made the remarks during the opening of the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva.
He also introduced ILO’s latest report to the ILC entitled “Work in a changing climate: The Green Initiative”.
