In the second annual UN-EU Counter-Terrorism Leaders’ Dialogue held at the United Nations in New York, senior officials from the UN counter-terrorism office and the EU’s security and defense section, exchanged views on common priorities and signed a framework agreement to promote “a new spirit of practical collaboration” to strengthen collaboration and have more of an impact in countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Pedro Serrano is Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service (EEAS). He spoke to UN News's Jordi Trujols, on the sidelines of Wednesday’s meeting about the new agreement, and how the United Nations and the EU will work more closely to fight terrorism.
