UN dream of rail link from Northern Europe to South East Asia moves step closer

The Trans-Asian Railway (TAR), a potential network of over 80,000 kilometres of routes linking 27 Member States of the United Nations regional body for Asia and the Pacific, gained new momentum today under a draft agreement that could boost transport ranging from trade to tourism as far as northern Europe.

UN seminar to examine social implications of migration

Accord on vast UN-backed Asian Highway network enters into force 4 July

The Intergovernmental Agreement on the United Nations-backed 140,000-kilometre Asian Highway Network linking the vast region from St. Petersburg to Singapore and Seoul to Istanbul comes into force on Monday, facilitating trade and tourism and opening up landlocked countries.
