Malnutrition rates among children in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) – long hit by adverse weather and economic problems – have declined in the past two years but remain relatively high, and well-targeted international aid must be sustained, according to a new United Nations survey released today.

Declaring actions by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) a “serious challenge” to efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency has called on the country to resume at an early date, without preconditions, six-party talks seeking a peaceful solution to the crisis.

UN human rights expert calls on DPR of Korea to clarify abductions of Japanese

A United Nations human rights expert today called on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to respond “effectively and expeditiously” to Japan's claim that there are a number of abducted Japanese nationals who are still alive in the DPRK and that they should be returned to Japan immediately and safely.
