IAEA deplores alleged restart of nuclear facility in DPR of Korea

Reacting to news reports that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has restarted its nuclear reactor at Nyongbyong, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today deplored such moves and said restarting the “unsafeguarded” facility shows the country’s disregard for its treaty obligations.

DPR of Korea: UN fears gains in child nutrition could be lost

Though child malnutrition in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has fallen considerably over the past four years, according to survey findings announced today, United Nations relief agencies said the gains could be lost if humanitarian assistance to the country continues to slacken.

Security Council refers IAEA letter on DPR of Korea to experts first

The Security Council has referred a letter from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to its experts for further consultations before beginning any discussion of the matter, the President of the 15-nation body said today.

Annan to seek additional donor support to ensure continuation of aid for DPR of Korea

Following a report from his Personal Envoy, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has decided to seek additional donor support to ensure the continuation of humanitarian aid for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) for the next few months.
