Visiting towns in the southern and eastern parts of Sierra Leone, the commander of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in the country has pushed for progress in the disarmament effort, the UN Mission for Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) announced today.
The United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) today started the second phase of its weapons destruction exercise in the capital, Freetown, destroying more than 7,600 weapons recovered by UN peacekeepers during the disarmament process.
