Top UN-appointed independent rights experts have condemned Russia’s “continued and heightened crackdown on civil society groups, human rights defenders and media outlets”.
Civil society organizations in Iraq need greater access to information about the victims and perpetrators of violence in the conflict-ridden country if they are to be able to support emergency efforts; that’s according to the director of an Iraqi health organization who recently visited the UN in New York.
The terrorist group ISIL or Daesh continues to occupy parts of the Middle Eastern country, although it has been driven from the formerly besieged city of Fallujah.
During that occupation it was accused of carrying out widespread abuses.
