Burundi: UN, African Union mission condemn attacks on political figures

The United Nations Integrated Office in Burundi (BINUB) and the African Union Mission in the country have condemned a grenade attack against political figures there.

Number of UN-assisted returnees to Burundi tops 350,000

Over the past five years, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has helped over 350,000 Burundian refugees return to their homes, under one of the agency's largest repatriation programmes in Africa.

UN appeals for funds to help Burundian refugees return home from Tanzania

United Nations agencies appealed to donors today for at least $20 million for increased food aid to help many of the 149,000 Burundian refugees in camps in Tanzania to return home, warning that without more funding the initiative may collapse.
