Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina merits ‘close watch,’ Security Council told

The sustained attention of the international community is vital to helping Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to prosperity and political stability, the Security Council heard today, as it extended the mandate of the European peacekeepers tasked with ensuring the continued compliance by all sides with the 1995 peace agreement that ended fighting in the country.

Politics has too much sway over culture, education in Bosnia and Herzegovina – UN expert

An independent United Nations human rights expert today voiced concern at the extent to which political bodies have influence over cultural institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and urged the Government to ensure that people have opportunities to engage freely in cultural life.
