Food festival in Europe showcases talented refugee chefs

Warning that the recent surge of violent attacks in Afghanistan could signal a much worse and more fragile period ahead, the United Nations envoy for the country today called for urgent action to strengthen stability, including through improving the Government's credibility, and urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid violence.

Afghanistan: After attack on funeral in Kabul, UN envoy calls for urgent measures to halt cycle of violence

Denouncing today's deadly attack on a peaceful funeral procession in Kabul as “morally reprehensible and bereft of humanity,” the top United Nations official in Afghanistan said that after a week of violence across the long-troubled country, “now is the time to seek unity and solidarity.”
