Twenty-nine Ivorian police officers have received their diplomas after participating in a training course on crime scene management initiated by the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI).

The three-week course was part of a training programme conducted by the UN police (UNPOL) for specialists from the forensic and technical police. The trainees received their certificates yesterday.

“The idea is to coach national police and gendarmerie trainers whom (UNOCI) trained in 2008. They, in turn, give crime scene management training to police and gendarmes who specialize in these areas,” said Julien Chable, advisor and specialist in forensic and technical policing.

The Ivorian gendarmes who took the course said they were now better equipped to solve crimes, while upholding human rights.
