UN relief chief saddened by deaths due to cyclone in Bangladesh, India
The top United Nations humanitarian official today expressed his sadness in hearing of the loss of life and property damage caused by a cyclone in Bangladesh and India.
According to media reports, Cyclone Aila has claimed over 100 lives.
In a statement, John Holmes, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, extended his condolences to the affected, and said that the UN “stands ready to assist as required.”
