General Assembly President holds talks with senior Argentine official

General Assembly President Srgjan Kerim and Argentina’s External Relations Minister Jorge Enrique Taiana have held talks today on issues ranging from the global food crisis to Security Council reform to key regional challenges.

Mr. Kerim and Mr. Taiana also discussed current reform initiatives aimed at strengthening the UN’s role in world affairs, according to a statement issued by the Assembly President’s spokesperson after the talks in New York.

The statement noted the two men focused their discussions in part on recent developments involving proposed reform of the Security Council, including the upcoming meeting of a working group, slated for 17 June.
