Secretary-General Kofi Annan has postponed his official visit to Haiti and the Dominican Republic by a day because of technical problems with the aircraft he was to travel in and will now depart New York tomorrow.

Mr. Annan is still scheduled to meet Haiti’s President Rene Préval, Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis and Foreign Minister Jean Reynald Clerisme during the visit, a UN spokesman said today.

The Secretary-General will also hold talks with senior officials and commanders from the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) before travelling on to the Dominican Republic, where he will meet President Leonel Fernandez and senior members of the Congress and Supreme Court.
