United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will address the centennial dinner of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) in Washington, D.C., on Thursday evening, his spokesman announced today.

Last May, the AJC’s Executive Director was among 50 Jewish leaders from two dozen countries who met with the Secretary-General during their first-ever visit to the United Nations.

Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that in addition to addressing the AJC, on Friday, Mr. Annan will deliver the inaugural speech in an annual series sponsored by the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, on the topic of the relationship between the United States and the UN. He will also receive an honorary degree.

He is scheduled to return to New York later that day.
