Philippines succeeds Japan in UN Security Council presidency for September

The Philippines today took over the rotating Presidency of the Security Council for the month of September.
Philippines Ambassador Lauro Baja, succeeding Ambassador Kenzo Oshima, of Japan, Council president for August, today held meetings with other representatives of the 15-member body to determine the programme of work for the coming month.
The Council is expected to hold consultations on the programme tomorrow, after which Mr. Baja is scheduled to hold a news briefing.
