Annan to undergo operation to repair shoulder injury
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will undergo an operation to repair a left shoulder injury on Friday, his spokesman has announced.
The injury occurred during a sporting accident this past winter while Mr. Annan was cross-country skiing, spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said.
The operation on a rotator cuff will take place in a New York area hospital and such procedures are usually carried out under local anaesthesia, he added.
