Citing the importance of improving living standards, Juan Gabriel Valdés said on Sunday that he would work with UN agencies to tackle the issue as a first priority.

Mr. Valdés, who heads the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), also reviewed troop deployments during his visit, which included a stop in Cap-Haïtien.

Addressing contingents from Canada, Argentina and Chile, the envoy voiced appreciation for their contribution to improving stability in the area.
