Annan to hold talks with US President Bush in Washington

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will head to Washington, DC, tomorrow for talks with top United States officials, including President George Bush.

During his one-day official visit to the US capital, Mr. Annan will also meet separately with Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.

In addition to holding talks with Mr. Bush earlier in the day, the Secretary-General is expected to have lunch with the President at the White House.

While in Washington, the Secretary-General will also meet with members of the US Senate and House of Representatives, including Majority Leader Bill Frist, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Representative Bill Young, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, a spokesman for Mr. Annan reported.
