Annan urges parties in Georgia to talk

Reacting to the volatile situation in Georgia, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today urged talks aimed at resolving the country's crisis.

A spokesman for Mr. Annan released a statement calling on all parties to exercise restraint.

The Secretary-General also urged them "to do everything possible to initiate a viable political dialogue towards a peaceful solution to this crisis."
