Greek singer and songwriter Nana Mouskouri has put in 10 years of tireless work as a global goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the world's leading advocacy organization for youngsters said today.

"Nana's tireless work, the hundreds of acts of kindness and generosity she has made on behalf of children everywhere over the last 10 years is proof that one person can make a difference," said UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellamy. "We are profoundly grateful to Nana for her remarkable achievements and contributions."

UNICEF said Ms. Mouskouri had carried her fundraising and her advocacy for a better future for children to Australia, Mexico, Chile and North America, as well as several countries in East and West Europe.

"She appeals to her audiences in concerts, television and press interviews to support UNICEF's programmes for children. She has also made generous financial contributions to projects in Guatemala, Kenya, Uganda and Viet Nam," the agency said.
