Workplace violence to be studied by UN labour agency

The United Nations International Labour Organization (ILO) today convened a meeting of experts to tackle the problem of stress and violence in the workplace.

According to ILO, the experts would attempt to draw up new code of practice to supplement national laws on the subject.

Among the core documents the group will study is a new ILO handbook which reviews exiting guidelines, polices, practices and experiences with stress and violence, and attempts to help set up an effective methodology for developing workplace programmes.

The meeting will last through 15 October.
