Guinea-Bissau: Annan condemns coup d'etat, urges end to violence
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today condemned the coup d'état in Guinea-Bissau, urging measures to bring stability to the turbulent African nation.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Mr. Annan also called for the restoration of constitutional order.
“He further calls on the parties concerned not to resort to any acts of violence or retribution and urges that every effort be made to ensure the safety and security of all,” the spokesman said.
