The United Nations human rights expert on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography will visit France next week at the invitation of the Government.

During his five-day mission, which starts on Monday, Special Rapporteur Juan Miguel Petit will examine the situation regarding trafficking of children into and through France for prostitution and other purposes.

The expert will also probe the incidence of child pornography and domestic child sexual abuse in the country.

While in France, Mr. Petit will hold meetings with governmental and non-governmental organizations and survivors of abuse. He will also visit children's shelters as well as the "children's desk" at the Interpol office in Lyon.
