UN Middle East envoy condemns latest suicide bombing near Tel Aviv

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Terje Roed-Larsen, today strongly condemned the suicide bombing attack near Tel Aviv, where an elderly woman was killed and more than a dozen other people injured.

Extending condolences to the victims' families, Mr. Roed-Larsen reiterated that such repugnant terror attacks were legally and morally indefensible and completely counter-productive to peace efforts.

In his statement, released in Jerusalem, the envoy also called on both parties to show restraint and adhere immediately to Security Council resolution 1435 adopted last month.

Among other provisions, that resolution called for a halt to all violence, "including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction."
