Annan voices concern about possible renewed violence in Venezuela

Kofi Annan
The United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, today voiced concern about the possibility of renewed violence in Venezuela.

The Secretary-General appealed to the people of Venezuela "to act with patience and moderation, and seek solutions to their differences based on the principles of democracy and the rule of law," a statement issued by a UN spokesman said.

Mr. Annan "supports the efforts of the international community to facilitate a dialogue" in Venezuela, spokesman Fred Eckhard added.
