Nane Annan, the wife of the United Nations Secretary General, today said an exhibit paying tribute to the victims of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack currently installed at UN Headquarters is a symbol of the solidarity between the world body and its host city.

“It shows how much the UN is part of New York,” said Mrs. Annan about the special memorial tribute. The exhibit displayed in the Visitors Lobby contains artwork sent from around the world to the UN and includes several glass engraved portraits of the fallen fire-fighters as well as a quilt depicting the flags of the world made by women in Idaho.

Mrs. Annan, who met with survivors and relatives of the fallen New York fire-fighters, said it had been “very moving to meet with the families” of those who died risking their lives to save the people trapped in the World Trade Center.
