Bosnia and Herzegovina: UN mission condemns murder of Sarajevo police chief
The United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH) today condemned the murder of the Chief of Police of Srpsko Sarajevo.
Zeljko Makovic was shot dead last night in front of his home, and an intense investigation into the assassination has begun, the Mission said. Local police from Sokolovac deployed to the site of the murder immediately while the investigative judge and public prosecutor from the court in Lukavica went to the crime scene this morning.
The UN International Police Task Force, which accompanied local police to the scene, is closely monitoring the investigation. So far there is no information concerning the perpetrators or motives behind the killing.
