UN envoy hails peace accord between DR of Congo, Uganda

The head of the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) has hailed a peace accord between the DRC and Uganda.

Speaking to journalists last Friday, Amos Namanga Ngongi said both President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and President Joseph Kabila of the DRC had shown they could make the necessary efforts to bridge their differences.

His comments came after the two leaders signed the peace accord at a ceremony in the Angolan capital of Luanda.
