Annan appalled by fatal bomb attack at Hebrew University

Kofi Annan
Appalled by today’s bomb attack at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan strongly denounced such terror acts aimed against the civilian population and repeated his previous calls to all sides to break the cycle of violence.

The Secretary-General "condemns utterly all such terrorist attacks against civilians," a spokesman for Mr. Annan said in a statement following news that seven people were killed and more than 80 others wounded in the bombing.

"He once again urges all concerned to end the cycle of violence, revenge and retaliation, and calls on the parties to return to the path of negotiations on a permanent settlement," the statement said.
