The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the launch of a new database, which is tracking assistance to Afghanistan.

Supported by the Governments of Italy, the Netherlands and the United States, the database provides easy assess to information on how quickly donors have been able to deliver assistance against the pledges they made at a meeting held in Tokyo in January. That event generated promises of some $1.8 billion for Afghanistan this year.

The database shows how much funding is being received for key development priorities, including health, education and transportation. It also breaks down information by province. UNDP said the database would enable donors and humanitarian agencies to ensure aid flows to where the need is greatest while reducing any duplication of assistance.
