After meeting in consultations to review the peace process between Ethiopia and Eritrea, members of the United Nations Security Council today reiterated the importance of close consultations among the parties, the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) and the Boundary Commission on the implementation of the Commission's recent decision on border delimitation.

In a press statement issued by the current President of the Council, Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani of Singapore, Council members also welcomed the latest meeting on the issue held on 21 May in The Hague.

"Members of the Council expressed their anticipation that a follow-up by Ethiopian authorities to the meeting in The Hague will soon be forthcoming with the view to establishing the modalities for an expeditious implementation of the border delimitation decision," the Council President said.

The Commission's border decision was delivered to representatives of Eritrea and Ethiopia on 13 April.
