UN Middle East envoy 'appalled' by latest suicide bombing, calls for halt to attacks

Appalled by the latest suicide bombing against Israeli citizens, a top United Nations envoy for the Middle East today said "such attacks cannot be endured, and must stop."

In a statement released in Jerusalem, Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, stressed that terrorist attacks from any quarter were unacceptable and could not be tolerated by the international community.

In reiterating his longstanding condemnation of terrorist attacks, Mr. Roed-Larsen also noted that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has clearly and repeatedly stated that such attacks against civilians were "morally repugnant" and a clear violation of international law.
