Nobel Peace Prize exhibit to open at UN Headquarters

Secretary-General Kofi Annan, current Laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize, which he shared with the United Nations, is slated to open an exhibit today at UN Headquarters in New York commemorating the award’s 100-year history.

The exhibit “The Nobel Peace Prize: 1901-2001, a Centennial exhibition” celebrates the work of numerous Peace Prize Laureates throughout history.

In separate sections, the exhibit depicts selected Nobel Laureates over the past century, along with photographic portraits of a number of these individuals and institutions by French photographer Micheline Pelletier. It also comprises an artist portfolio by 17 contemporary Norwegian artists as well as the Nobel Peace Prize 2001.

Organized by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Norwegian Nobel Institute, the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History and the UN Department of Public Information, the opening of the exhibit coincides with the Norwegian Presidency of the Security Council in March.
