The latest Ebola outbreak in West Africa has spread to the Republic of the Congo, the United Nations health agency reported today.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 16 cases of Ebola haemorrhagic fever were detected in Gabon and 11 in the neighbouring villages of the Congo. There have been 15 deaths so far.

A WHO international team was operating on both sides of the border and working closely in the field with the team from the Congolese Ministry of Health on outbreak control interventions, the agency said.
