Two accords set to enter into force as a result of treaty signing event at UN
This morning, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, Phil Goff, deposited his country’s instrument of ratification to the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, marking the tenth instrument of ratification or accession to be deposited with the United Nations.
According to its terms, the Optional Protocol will enter into force three months later, on 13 February 2002.
Yesterday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta, Joe Borg, deposited his country’s accession to the Agreement on the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks, the 30th instrument of ratification or accession handed over to the United Nations. The Agreement will enter into force on 11 December.
