Prosecutors for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) today confirmed that they had filed a new indictment against former President Slobodan Milosevic charging him with genocide and other crimes allegedly committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The details of the indictment will not be made available until it is confirmed by a Tribunal judge, the ICTY said.

Meanwhile, Miodrag Jokic, a former Vice Admiral of the Yugoslav Navy, surrendered himself earlier this morning to the Tribunal at The Hague and was transferred to its detention unit.

The Tribunal indicted Admiral Jokic for crimes he and those under his command allegedly committed in 1991 in the shelling and bombing of Dubrovnik, Croatia.
