Meeting on nuclear test ban treaty rescheduled for mid-November

A meeting aimed at promoting the entry into force of a nuclear test ban accord, which had been postponed in the wake of the terrorist attacks against the United States, has been rescheduled for mid-November, a United Nations spokesman announced today.

Spokesman Fred Eckhard said that the Conference Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) would now take place from 11 to 13 November at UN Headquarters in New York.

The Conference was originally scheduled to take place from 25 to 27 September, coinciding with the UN General Assembly's annual high-level debate, which was also postponed in the aftermath of the attacks.
