With the United Nations World Conference against Racism set to conclude today, discussions in Durban, South Africa, over language in the meeting's final declaration were going down to the wire, a UN spokesman said.

Delegates were still negotiating behind closed doors over new proposed language on the legacy of the past and language concerning the situation in the Middle East. "All sides are still aiming for a text that can be adopted on general agreement," spokesman Manoel de Almeida e Silva said.

South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has been facilitating the talks.
