General Assembly's upcoming session to tackle 185 issues

The United Nations General Assembly today released the provisional agenda for its 2001-02 session, which is set to begin on 11 September at UN Headquarters in New York.

The agenda for the 56th session contains 185 items, up from 171 in the provisional agenda of the current session.

The annual general debate, in which leaders from Member States address the world body on issues ranging from economic and social development to peacekeeping and UN reform, is scheduled to take place from 24 to 28 September and 1 to 5 October.
