As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to threaten lives and livelihoods globally, the President of Viet Nam told the UN General Assembly on Wednesday that his nation is “vigorously” combating the virus, protecting its people, sustaining economic growth and leaving no one behind.

“We will continue to stand in solidarity with all victims of terrorism. They will not be forgotten”: that was the message from UN Counter-Terrorism chief Vladimir Voronkov on Monday, at a special tribute ceremony marking 20 years since the attacks launched against the United States that changed the course of history.   

The Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution renewing the mandate of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on Friday, specifying the importance of “equal and meaningful participation” of women in public life. 

The UN Secretary-General, on Wednesday, urged the world to “learn from the lessons of the past 18 months, to strengthen democratic resilience in the face of future crises.”
