Nations begin drafting ‘operating manual’ for climate action at UN conference in Bonn

The latest round of United Nations climate change negotiations began on Monday in Bonn, Germany, to further develop the “operating manual” for implementing the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement, which aims to keep temperature rises this century, well below 2 degrees Celsius.

At the flat Wadden Sea coast in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, the threat of sea level rise and attempts to mitigate climate change by producing renewable energy can be studied side by side. Wind power is a major source of electricity.

Climate Action Special Envoy Bloomberg pledges $4.5 million to help UN fight climate change in line with the Paris Agreement

The UN Special Envoy for Climate Action, Michael Bloomberg, announced on Sunday a contribution of $4.5 million to the Organization’s Climate Change Secretariat, the UNFCCC.
