Mali: Security Council condemns recent deadly suicide attack on UN base

The Security Council today condemned in the strongest terms Saturday’s suicide attack on a United Nations base in Ber, Mali, that killed two UN Burkinabe peacekeepers and injured seven others.
UNICEF assisted the Liberian government and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to complete an expansion of the ELWA Ebola Treatment Centre outside Monrovia, creating the largest such facility in history.

Ebola: UN health agency requests exit screening of travellers leaving affected countries

The United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) today said any persons with an illness consistent with Ebola should not be allowed to travel by air, sea or land from affected countries unless it is part of a medical evacuation, as it also expressed concern over the threats and harassment of health workers in West African countries developing into a “worry element.”

Libya: UN mission condemns 'grave escalation' in fighting, urges ceasefire

The United Nations mission assisting Libya today condemned the grave escalation in the fighting in the capital, Tripoli, and its suburbs and urged all parties to work to put an end to the security deterioration, which forebodes serious consequences on the humanitarian level.
