The UN is taking the opportunity of the ceasefire in Gaza to ramp up the delivery of aid to the beleaguered people of Gaza.

Communal kitchens have been set up to feed as many people as possible and stave off famine conditions.
 

UN trucks are currently only able to enter Gaza through two crossings in the south of the enclave.

Around 750 tonnes of food are being brought into Gaza on a daily basis some of which is being stored in World Food Programme (WFP) warehouses. 

A young boy stands by three boxes of food distributed by the UN, the first his family has received in the last 6 months.

Bread, a staple of the Palestinian diet, is being prepared in WFP-supported bakeries.

It is distributed to hungry Gazans.

Soap has finally been delivered to Gaza by the UN, and now children are able to wash their hands properly.

Children who have suffered trauma due to the war are being counselled by UNICEF staff.
