As UNRWA, the UN Agency relief and works agency for Palestinian refugees in the near east, approaches its 70th anniversary, Matthias Schmale, its director of operations in Gaza has appealed for its basic services to continue, for reasons of dignity and justice.

Speaking to Reem Abaza of UN News, at Ar Rimal school in Gaza, ahead of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on the November 29, Mr. Schmale discussed how the current funding crisis has affected the many schools and other services, such as mental health support and cash for work programmes, that are run by UNRWA.

Mr. Schmale began by describing Ar Rimal school, and explaining what makes it special.
