Female peacekeepers are recognized by the United Nations and Member States as being central to the success of the organization’s 14 missions around the world, but substantially increasing the overall number of women remains an elusive goal.

Ahead of a UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) event, Ann Blomberg from The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, DCAF, told UN News how its report identifies what the obstacles are, and what steps should be taken to bring about change.
