Governments urged to invest more in drug treatment services

Governments urged to invest more in drug treatment services

Intro:

With only one in six drug users worldwide having access to treatment, a UN-backed narcotics control body is calling for more investment in these services.

The recommendation comes in the latest report by the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), published on Thursday.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the report underlines how access to drug treatment is in line with the right to health.

Dianne Penn has been speaking to one of the 13 INCB members, David Johnson of the United States.
