The UN plays a “dynamic” role as a “knowledge-broker” bringing together governments, experts and the private sector to help development in the southern hemisphere.

That’s according to Ahmed Hussein Ahmed, Regional Advisor for the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).

He’s one of the senior officials who have been facilitating discussions this week in Antalya, Turkey, for a major forum devoted to sharing innovative local solutions to global problems, known as the Global South-South Development Expo.

The four-day event was hosted by the Turkish government and the UNOSSC.

Maoqi Li has been covering the conference for UN News and he asked Mr Ahmed—who is part of the division for Arab States, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)—to start by defining South-South Cooperation.
