The UN audiovisual library is a collection of over one million photo, radio, and television items.

They are kept under the watchful eye of chief of audiovisual archives at the United Nations, Antonio da Silva, who’s charged with collecting, preserving, and reformatting 72 years’ worth of materials.

The UN celebrated World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on Friday.

Elena Vapnitchnaia spoke with Mr da Silva about what the library holds and its significance for future generations.
